The SKA pathfinders will produce catalogs of over 100 million radio sources. Much of the scienc can only be achived if these are cross-matched to surveys at other wavelengths, but the large number of sources precludes this being done by eye. Instead, much of the cross-matching will make use of automated processes. However, these processes are likely to fail on many of the complex (and therefore scientifically interesting) sources.
We have therefore teamed up with the Galaxy Zoo group to produce RadioZoo, which will invite thousands of enthusiastic laypeople and amateur astronomers around the world to contribute to cutting-edge science by cross-identifying radio sources with optical/IR galaxies.
Please contact Ivy Wong if you would like to contribute to Radio Zoo.
